Use of Drones in Sugarcane Production
During the period 22 to 25 February, the ZSAES Agronomy and Entomology Department teamed up to conduct some experiments on the use of drone technology in sugarcane production. Experiments on the effectiveness of drone technology in controlling the problematic yellow sugarcane aphid were conducted in Hippo Valley. A DJI T30 spraying drone was used to spray for yellow sugarcane aphids in cane fields of different heights and with different infection levels. The findings of these experiments will be presented in upcoming seminars and newsletters. It was quite an eventful and eye-opening exercise for the team.
